Our Comments & Recommendations

Overall the improvements we made to the website speed and titles/descriptions for the collection pages have started to show positive improvements to our SEO performance and advertising ROAS.

Last month we updated your theme version to 5.1.0, and updated your mailing SPF records which so far has seen a reduction of DMARC fail reports by about 12%, this should significantly mitigate our risk of landing into spam folders. We also detected 2 new fraud orders and have added their information to our block list, if more fraud orders come in we can discuss further mitigation strategies.

For next steps I suggest this month we continue working on titles/descriptions and updating those for the product pages, and if we have time left over continue working on improving site speed further.

Events & Alerts

Our products and collections received 64,000 more clicks last month compared to the previous year.

Direct searches for our store name "Your Company Name" received 600 less clicks last month compared to the previous year.

Our best performing product for SEO is Lucie Boots Black with 734 clicks last month and 24,466 impressions.

The most searched for product categories last month were Footwear, Dresses, and Skincare.

Our Comments & Recommendations

The increase to collection page organic clicks indicates our chants to the titles/descriptions for the collection pages so far are a positive improvement, we recommend continuing this work for the product pages.

Less direct searches for our brand name could suggest we should consider working on how to reach customers through other channels such as social media to increase brand visibility.

Based on our best performing product, we recommend starting our product title/description improvements in the "Footwear" category to capitalize on search interest for that category.

DKIM Score

These checks highlight opportunities to improve your email deliverability. Your SPF and DKIM score represent what proportion of your emails fail the SPF or DKIM check, and your DMARC score represents what proportion of emails fail the overall DMARC check.

Keeping a good DMARC score will help you maintain your sender reputation, protect against email spoofing/phishing, and reduce the likelihood of emails being marked as spam in your customer’s inbox.

Your DMARC policy is currently set to none, meaning that when the DMARC check fails, the email is still sent to the recipient, but we get notified of the failed check.

Email Deliverability Breakdown

3,740 emails from 4 email servers passed the DMARC checks (95% total)

We detected 0 mail spoofing incidents last month.

187 emails from 1 email server failed the DMARC checks (5% total)

374 emails from 1 email server failed the SPF checks (10% total)

187 emails from 1 email server failed the DKIM checks (5% total)

Our Comments & Recommendations

After fixing your SPF records we have seen your DMARC fail reports drop by about 12% which is great, we should see this reach 100 by next month.

The failing DKIM record comes from mail sent by Google (usually a Google Worspace or Gmail account), this is not a cause of concern for email deliverability at this stage because this is known behaviour of Google accounts and as long as the SPF record passes it will pass the DMARC check.

Cyber Security & Fraud Events

A malware checker has been installed on all staff computers.

We detected the store owner does not have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Enabling 2FA for the store owner account is critical because in the event of this account being hacked, the malicious entity will have access to your entire store including payment information and customer data. Please read how to enable 2FA here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/logging-in/two-step-authentication/authenticator-app

We detected 1 staff account not using two-factor authentication (2FA). 2FA is important for all staff because it significantly reduces the risk of a malicious entity getting access to your Shopify store and causing a cyber security incident. Please read how to enable 2FA here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/logging-in/two-step-authentication/authenticator-app

Private and public apps have been audited for security risks.

Shopify theme has been audited for security risks.

Website has been audited for customer privacy issues.

Site backups have been enabled.

Site collaborator code is enabled.

We blocked 504 fraud visits to your website last month, and detected 2 fraud orders.

We detected 1 inactive staff account and 2 Shopify apps that can possibly be removed.

Our Comments & Recommendations

As highlighted above the store owner account "store@example.com" and the staff account "staff@example.com" need to have 2FA enabled to keep the Shopify admin secure. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this.

The staff account "staff@example.com" has not logged in for over 90 days and can probably be removed if unused.

We also think the "Free Shipping Bar", and "Amai Bulk Promotions" Shopify apps are not currently being used by the store, and therefore we recommend uninstalling them. It is best practice to uninstall unused apps to help maintain website speed, mitigate ongoing costs, and reduce risk of an inactive app having an adverse effect on your store.

For the 2 new fraud orders, we have added their information to our block list, if more fraud orders come in we can discuss further mitigation strategies.

Our Comments & Recommendations

Mobile PageSpeed has areas for improvement, for next steps on this we recommend removing some of the theme's unused JavaScript code, and uninstalling our unused Shopify apps.

I will email through a spreadsheet of all of the broken links and 404 page visits for your review. For next steps on this we should replace the broken links we have detected with the new correct links for these pages, and set up website redirects to an appropriate new page for the 404 pages.

Theme Upgrade

We updated your Shopify theme to version 5.1.1, read below to see the version change notes.

Added

  • There is now a new "Hide on scroll" feature on the header. This new setting allows to have the header automatically hide when the user is scrolling down to give more space to the content, and reveal again once scrolling up.
  • The slideshow section now has a new "Show initial transition" setting. You can turn off this setting to remove the initial fade transition that appears when the slideshow become visible. Turning off the initial transition can help to reduce the LCP performance metric and slightly improve the perceived performance. This can be especially useful if the slideshow section is on the first position. This new setting gives merchant more flexibility on whether they want to prioritize performance or design.

Fixed

  • Fixed an issue for the "Image with text block" section where the ratio of the image would be incorrect when configured as original aspect ratio, with parallax enabled and without any text (which is, admitedly, a rather edge case).
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the countdown timer flips to show too wide on mobile.

Improved

  • Slightly improved the performance by ensuring that sections that are typically used in footer (multi-column and media grid) now always have the images lazy-loaded when used in the footer.
  • When the media grid section is used in the footer, images are now always lazyloaded.
